Exploring texts for deep comprehension

• Studying the text at three levels
• Modelling comprehension strategies in action
• Exploring deeper meaning in texts
• How writers use language for effect
• Developing children’s knowledge and application of varied vocabulary and synonyms

Writing fiction

• Modelling the writing process to show how the story is built up
• "Thinking out loud" techniques to show thought processes and Language choices
• Developing an example text to provide a model for the children’s writing
• Openings, characters, endings and settings
• Planning, writing, evaluating and editing texts

Software

• Use of the Comprehension Plus software to support all of the above teaching

Reading and writing non-fiction, as above.

In-school Training

One day of training

£1100 plus VAT for up to 45 staff

One day training at a venue near you

£140 - £150 plus VAT per person

Please note that you must apply online in order to reserve your place on all courses.

Please note a minimum of 48 hours notice is required if cancelling a place on a training course. Otherwise we reserve the right to charge 50% of the cost of the place booked.
