Two-day Whole School Training for Read Write Inc. Phonics and/or Fresh Start

This training is for new schools wanting to implement Read Write Inc. Phonics or Read Write Inc. Fresh Start as their ‘learn to read’ programme.
When and where does the training take place?
Primary schools. Over the course of two in-service days, one of our experienced trainers will train all the staff from your school – both teachers and support staff - from Foundation to Year 6. This helps to ensure that the whole school adopts the programme whole-heartedly and successfully. The trainer will give detailed guidance on using the Read Write Inc. Phonics resources (for Foundation to Year 4), and, where appropriate, the Read Write Inc. Fresh Start resources (for children in Years 5and 6 working below NC Level 3, including EAL children).
Smaller schools may club together to arrange the training in one school.
Secondary Schools. Read Write Inc. Fresh Start is ideal for use in secondary schools with pupils in Year 7 and above who are working at any point below NC Level 3, Fresh Start aims to take them to Level 4 as quickly as possible, whilst also developing their comprehension and writing skills.
Read Write Inc. Fresh Start follows a similar format to Read Write Inc. Phonics, but uses age appropriate texts for older pupils. The two day in-service training is ideal for all staff working to improve children’s literacy skills. English teachers are also encouraged to attend this training.
Secondary schools can also join together to book a trainer for RWI Fresh Start or join in with their local primary school.
What support will there be?
Six to eight weeks after you have started to teach the programme there will be a follow-up Implementation Monitoring Day. One of our trainers will spend the day in your school answering queries, modelling lessons and developing an action plan with you.
How much will it cost?
Two Training Days and one Implementation Monitoring Day:
Up to 45 people: £2,750 + VAT

Your invoice and booking confirmation will be sent to your school admin email address
If two small schools join together to share the training, the second school will need to book a separate Implementation Monitoring Day at £550 + VAT.
