Refresher training (2 days)

Refresher training is ideal for schools using Read Write Inc, whose staff were trained some time ago. The training can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your school. It is the ideal way to refresh the knowledge and skills of your staff, and keep everyone fully up-to-date with all latest developments and techniques.
Please note – this training is only appropriate for staff who have already attended an initial two-day training course. It is not suitable as an alternative to full training for untrained staff. Staff who have not been trained should book a place on a central training course.

In- school training
This Refresher training consists of a two day package – one day where the trainer works in school with your staff and children, and an INSET full training day. It can follow either of two formats, to meet your needs most effectively:
Option A
This is ideal when the headteacher/RWI Manager wants the trainer to highlight existing areas for improvement in the Read Write Inc. teaching in the school, and improve lessons based on these findings.
- Day 1 – the trainer works in school with staff and children, observing Read Write Inc. lessons in action and discussing the school’s needs with the RWI manager and Headteacher.
- Day 2 – INSET training, focusing on the areas for improvement highlighted by Day 1, and updating staff on new developments and techniques introduced since staff were last trained.
Option B
This is ideal where the headteacher/RWI Manager knows what areas the trainer needs to focus on, and support the implementation of these changes after the training.
- Day 1 –INSET training, focusing on areas specified by the headteacher/RWI Manager, and updating staff on new developments and techniques introduced since staff were last trained.
- Day 2 - the trainer works in school with staff and children, helping staff to fully implement the changes highlighted in the training, modelling lessons where appropriate and providing feedback and suggestions for further improvement.
